Autumn

Well we are off to Fiji today to the lovely warm weather. It is rather windy, cold & miserable here - all the leaves have pretty much fallen off the trees now, but I must say the colours of Autumn are just devine - the rich reds, vibrant yellows & even the browns when they are up against the lush green of our grass at the moment. We were in Launceston the other day & they have a most beautiful city park which we spent hous in with the kids - first looking at the monkies, then playing in the leaves & finally in the playground at the other end.

Goodbye for a couple of weeks - off to relaxation - YAY!!!!

Of to Fiji !

Oh tomorrow we head off to Fiji - I am so excited!! A long awaited family holiday - it will be bliss - it is one time I am happy to be without my sewing machine for more than a couple of days.

I borrowed some books from the library today in anticipation of some relaxation time.

I will take some crafty stuff though - maybe just some small bits of fabric & needle & thread to make some yo-yo's.

I am hoping that Kylie (from craftedbykylie) has received her parcel if not look away now, as here are some pics of the clothes I made her sweet pea in return for my gorgeous knitted hat (see a few blogs ago).
This one is kind of my own smock top pattern (they are all quite similar really) & the pants were from a long shorts pattern which I added the frill too.
The dress is a farbenmix "Cara" pattern. It has some ricrac trim & buttons at the shoulders. Lovely for winter with a skivvy underneath.
I hope you like them Kylie.
I also made a pair of chenille pants for her little man too.

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY

To all those gorgeous mamas out there - Happy Mothers Day!! I hope youa ll had a lovely day & were at least a little spoilt.

Gorgeous Mr Spunky cooked breakfast for me -very yummy! I was also spoilt with this book by Tone Finnanger. I adore all of her stuff, but this would have to be my favourite book of hers.
Also it was the first year that Em could write her name on the card - she also wrote Liams & "Mummy" on the card. I know I sound like a bit of a sop, but it was very special!

My gorgeous hat & buttons

Well a huge THANK YOU to Kylie for our market place swap - she made me this gorgeous hat ...

I in turn am making some things for her little girl (fingers crossed that all will be completed this weekend & in the post Monday morning). Sorry I was unable to get a pic of it on my head as I have had no one to take the pic yet - will try and get Mr Spunky to do it tomorrow.

Also here are some lovely buttons I picked up on local opshop visit while mum was here. I just adore the glass ones - esp the ones with butterflies etched on the underside (may be hard to see in the pic - I really need to work on my photographic skills). I doubt I will ever use them, but they were too pretty (and cheap) to leave there.

What Claire means.....

Okey doky, well I found a link (sorry I am hopeless at pasting up links) from someone elses blog (sorry forget that too - was doing a bit of blog surfing) to find out the meaning of your name/personality & this is mine. Rather accurate in most ways, but then again if you slotted your name in instead of mine would it apply to you too???

What Claire Means
You are very open. You communicate well, and you connect with other people easily. You are a naturally creative person. Ideas just flow from your mind.A true chameleon, you are many things at different points in your life. You are very adaptable. You are relaxed, chill, and very likely to go with the flow. You are light hearted and accepting. You don't get worked up easily.Well adjusted and incredibly happy, many people wonder what your secret to life is.You are usually the best at everything ... you strive for perfection. You are confident, authoritative, and aggressive. You have the classic "Type A" personality. You tend to be pretty tightly wound. It's easy to get you excited... which can be a good or bad thing. You have a lot of enthusiasm, but it fades rather quickly. You don't stick with any one thing for very long. You have the drive to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time. Your biggest problem is making sure you finish the projects you start. You are wild, crazy, and a huge rebel. You're always up to something. You have a ton of energy, and most people can't handle you. You're very intense. You definitely are a handful, and you're likely to get in trouble. But your kind of trouble is a lot of fun.You are friendly, charming, and warm. You get along with almost everyone. You work hard not to rock the boat. Your easy going attitude brings people together. At times, you can be a little flaky and irresponsible. But for the important things, you pull it together.

jUST STUFF...

Well I have just had the most wonderful 2 weeks, my mum visited & is was just so lovely & the kids really loved having grandma or "gaga" as Liam can only say. We did a bit of craft (well more like talked about all the craft we wanted to do), opshopped & mooched. DH & I even got to go out to the movies together - a real treat!

Mum has made the kids some lovely dolls in the past & while she was here she made Em 2 dolls. I can't find one of them, but this is the other one - a take on Melly & Me's Freya dolly. She has already had to be washed & is very loved!!

I have finally finished one of the numerous pairs of pants I have cut out for Liam, now to tackle the rest - I don't know why it has taken so long as pants are the easiest thing to do!

I have been making up quite a few orders of late & these are some of the dresses & pants I have whipped up - I love vintage chenille for kids, not only is it comfy, but it washes & wear a treat!

And this pic I love, apart from the fact that it was taken when mum was leaving...

I LOVE YOU MUM - I COULDN'T ASK FOR A BETTER MOTHER OR BEST FRIEND!

I will have to post a bit later as I received a most lovely knitted hat for me from Kylie as part of a market swap - I am making some clothes for her gorgeous DD in return.

Spotlight bargain

I have told myself I would not buy any more fabric, but how could I pass up these lovelies?? I purchased the end of the roll of each & what I got turned out to cost about $1-$2/meter. I was so happy as I have been waiting for these 3 to go on special & when I turned up there today they were on the clearance table! I was only going for elastic & d-rings :)

Rainbow dress..

I am forever creating in my head & never carrying a notebook to write down my creations & forever forgetting what they were, but this one popped in my head the other day & as I had mum here to help a bit with the kids I just got in & wizzed it up, hence it is not as accurate or fabric thought out as I may otherwise have done, but I completed it. I have cut out a couple more & may even sell some if I get my act together....It is rather bright but I think it will look rather cute with a bold plain coloured skivvy & tights underneath!
