My weeks sewing so far....

Well I haven't really done too well on the list of things I needed to get sewn this week. I have made this up for the little girl's birthday this weekend

It can hang around the little girls neck or can be just carried around. I got the idea from a gorgeous bunny doll Mum made for Em - I will have to post a pic later. I still have to make the little girl a bag with her initial on it, but at least this much is done!

These are 2 long sleeves I made for Em. The top pic is a newlook pattern, which was pretty easy to follow, but I found a bit short, so will have to remember to add extra at the hem next time. The second has been made by using the Olivia Farbenmix pattern & cutting it off for a top. Much prefer this pattern.

This last pic are some sweet little girls vintage skirts I have made up - I will hopefully be listing these & some others on Etsy in the not too distant future (I am awaiting some labels to be sewn on the clothes). I love them - they are great in cooler weather over tights or on their own with a singlet in summer!

So much to do this week......

Oh I have so much sewing to get done this week & of course so many other projects I would prefer to be doing. Lets see how I go by Sunday, these are what need to be started & completed

1 - 4 year old girls birthday pressie (toy ? bag? )
2 - 4 year old boys birthday pressie (shirt? otherwise absolutely no idea!)
3 - A dress for a friends daughter (at least cut out already!)
4 - A dress up outfit for Liam - Thinking cowboy??
5 - 2 matching pants & top outfits (for sisters)

Anyway I will start tomorrow (yes rather a bad at procrastinating - or should I say good??).

These are 2 tops I have made up for Liam. The guitar one is one which I winged (I didn't have a pattern, but had an idea what I wanted). If you don't look too closely at the sewing it at least fits him well & he loves it.
Second is a hooded which I actually made from the girls Farbenmix "Olivia" dress pattern (which of course you can buy at CraftyMamas). I just cut off the dress to make it shirt length , changed the shape of the sleeves a little & didn't put the back tie section on the hood. It fit perfectly which was great - I will definately be making more of these!

I have been awaiting 2 packages from overseas & one arived today - YAY! Fabric from the US. 3 yards of the guitar, 1 of the cowboys & 3 of the rocketships etc. I originally just wanted the guitars, but the fabric was rather cheap & for the same postage price I could get up to 8 yards - couldn't resist!

2 more UFO's done.....

Well here are 2 more UFO's from the pile which I have finished. Both of these were made using recycled / vintage sheets & pillowslips.

Flared pants have not been hemmed in the photo though. The 2 photos show the front & the back....

Finally UFO's no more!

Well I have got my act together & finished a few things on my UFO pile. The first are 2 pair of pants. The cord is recycled from a big persons pair of cord pants with the back pockets being used for the side pockets on the second pair which are made from a recycled retro curtain. craftymamas competition for this month is recreating clothing.

I love this cowboys fabric & only wish I had bought more. I cut out one of the little guys & appliqued it on the back of the pants.

Next is a quick little outfit I have made up for my sister in laws baby due any time now. The cow print is flannel - so lovely and soft.

The next is a reversible smock/apron style top. I have made quite a few of these for Em & they look great over a long sleeve & jeans. I am contemplating making some of these up in both new & vintage fabrics to sell on etsy...hmmmm... will have to get my act together!

Lastly is a dress I have been meaning to make up for a while. I have been playing with & sketching a few different appliques for dresses. This is a great style which has enough room to wear over a long sleeve or just on its own when it gets warm. It pops over the head with no buttons/zips.

BRRR Its Cold!!

Oh I hate the cold. I am a Queensland born & bred girl & Tasmanian weather & I don't really agree too much. Don't get me wrong it is the most stunningly beautiful state & I highly recommend it to anyone who is thinking of a visit, but if you don't like the cold stock up on thermals before you move here or just make it a holiday!

2 mornings ago this is the fros still at about 9am
And then yesterday it snowed here!!!
Anyway it is still cold today, but the sun is shining & if you stay inside with the heater on & look out the windows you can imagine that it is a delightful summers day..........

A mish mash of things.....

I have been meaning to blog for a few days now, but have not gotten around to so this will probably be a mish mash of a few things...

First is a few pictures of the bags I made while I was away. This first one I am not sure what to do with it - maybe sell - it is made from some fabulous vintage fabric.
Second is the fabric, not the bag I made a bag for my gorgeous sister for her birthday - I just forgot to take a pic of the finished product before I gave it to her. I just love this fabric - yet again another vintage recycled piece of fabric (a curtain I think!)
Lastly this bag is Mum's birthday present, made from some beautiful vintage chenille - I still have enough to make a cushion out of which was supposed to be for my sister - the way I am going, she may get it for christmas!
This next photo is of the most gorgeous beanie that crafted by kylie sent me as part of a chocolate swap we did a while ago - I also got 2 blocks of YUMMY chocolate (so yummy in fact that I ate them all before I had a chance to take a photo!!) & the most fantastic recipe book - "Old Fashion Desserts" - I LOVE all the recipes in there. Thank you SO much Kylie - I have been spoilt. The beanie is a perfect fit for Liam too!

I was also going to make this next week my "Finish a UFO a day" week, but I think I might leave it until next week.... or the next ... or sometime soon.

The UFO Pile.....

I am hopeless in the fact that when I decide I want to make something, I have to do then & there (well start it anyway), thus leading to the fact that I have a HUGE ufo pile. But I thought I better bight the bullet & try & finish a few things - I started easy with these 3 pair of pants. All are made from recycled vintage fabrics & I am just about to dabble in a bit of selling on Etsy, so if I get my act together they may end up in my store.......

Anyway the funny thing is though, that although I completed these three, I also cut out 4 other items, so really my UFO pile has now increased - oh well, one day I may get better !!

Wow almost a month!

Wow I can't believe almost a month has gone by since I last posted. I have an excuse though - I have been away at Mums & she does not have the internet connected. But it was a wonderful 3 weeks with family. My husband was away in Africa climbing Mt Kilimanjaro (expedition medicine) and then on a Safari. I was rather envious, but at least I was able to escape the Tassie cold for a bit.

For those of you who are interested this is one of the views on top of Mt Kilimanjaro....
Unfortunately there is a layer of cloud, but the little snow sculptures are just beautiful I think - amazing what the wind can create! Although he got a bit sick on the way up he said it was just amazing - they reached the summit just in time to see the sun rise!

I did a little crafting while I was away - I made 2 bags for Mum & my sister for their birthday - will post a pic in the next day or two. I also made 2 other bags. But that was about it. I did however pick up some great patterns (mostly vintage) which I am itching to try out.
Anyway it is late & I am tired so Goodnight!!
